About This Course

PTE Academic Preparation at ICSA

PTE Academic is Pearson's computer-based English test. You sit all four skills in one continuous session of roughly two hours, speaking into a microphone rather than to an examiner, and your answers are marked entirely by artificial intelligence — scored from 10 to 90, with results typically released within 48 hours.

That changes how you should prepare. PTE is integrated: a single task can be scored across two skills at once, so a weak Read Aloud damages your Reading score as well as your Speaking. The algorithm rewards clear pronunciation, steady oral fluency and precise content — and it is entirely unmoved by charm, eye contact or a confident smile.

This course teaches you the exam as a machine reads it. You work through all twenty task types, learn which ones carry the most weight (Write from Dictation and Read Aloud are worth far more than most students realise), and sit full computer-based mock tests until the two-hour format feels routine.

What You'll Learn

Skills You'll Walk Away With

Read Aloud — pronunciation, oral fluency and content, all scored at once
Repeat Sentence — the memory and delivery technique that separates 65 from 79
Describe Image — a repeatable template for 40 seconds of fluent, scoreable speech
Summarize Written Text — one grammatical sentence, 5–75 words, in ten minutes
Write from Dictation — the single highest-value task in the entire exam
Re-order Paragraphs and Fill in the Blanks — the Reading tasks that cost the most marks
Summarize Spoken Text — 50–70 words from audio that plays only once
Time management — pacing a two-hour sitting where you cannot go back to a section
Course Outline

Program Structure

01
Week 1: Speaking & Writing
The longest section — 54 to 67 minutes
  • Read Aloud: pronunciation, fluency and content scored simultaneously
  • Repeat Sentence and Describe Image: 25 seconds to plan, 40 seconds to deliver
  • Re-tell Lecture and Answer Short Question: content under time pressure
  • Summarize Written Text and the essay: precision within a strict word count
02
Week 2: Reading
Integrated task types, 29 to 30 minutes
  • Multiple choice — single answer and multiple answer (wrong picks lose you marks)
  • Re-order Paragraphs: logical sequencing against the clock
  • Reading Fill in the Blanks: drag-and-drop vocabulary in context
  • Reading & Writing Fill in the Blanks — scored in both skills at once
03
Week 3: Listening
The audio plays only once
  • Summarize Spoken Text: 50–70 words in ten minutes from a single hearing
  • Highlight Correct Summary and Highlight Incorrect Words
  • Fill in the Blanks and Select Missing Word: listening while typing
  • Write from Dictation: the highest-scoring task in the exam, drilled to automatic
04
Week 4–8: Scored Mock Tests & Strategy
Real conditions, on a computer
  • Full timed PTE Academic mock tests taken on a computer, not on paper
  • Score-report analysis: exactly which task types are costing you points
  • Pronunciation and oral-fluency drills aimed at how the AI actually marks
  • Pacing the two-hour sitting — because you cannot return to a completed section

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PTE Academic, and how is it different from IELTS?
PTE Academic is a computer-based English test from Pearson. You complete all four skills in one sitting of about two hours, speak into a microphone instead of to an examiner, and your answers are marked by AI on a 10–90 scale. IELTS is marked by human examiners on a 9-band scale and usually splits Speaking onto a separate day. PTE also returns results far faster — often within 48 hours.
How is PTE scored?
Every response is marked by algorithm on a scale from 10 to 90. Many tasks are integrated, meaning one answer is scored across two skills — Read Aloud counts towards both Speaking and Reading, for example. Most universities ask for 58–65; competitive courses and migration points often require 79 or above.
How quickly do I get my PTE results?
Scores are usually available within 48 hours, and often sooner. That speed is one of the main reasons applicants working to a visa or admission deadline choose PTE over IELTS, where results typically take up to 13 days.
Which countries and universities accept PTE Academic?
PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of institutions and is approved for visa and migration purposes by Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and by most Canadian universities. It is worth confirming the exact score your specific university or visa stream requires — we will help you check at the consultation.
Do I need to be good with computers to take PTE?
No. If you can type at a reasonable pace and use a mouse, you can sit PTE. Typing speed does matter on tasks like Summarize Written Text and Write from Dictation, so we build typing practice into the course — but no technical skill beyond that is required.
Does ICSA register me for the actual PTE exam?
No — ICSA prepares you for it. The test itself is booked through an official Pearson PTE test centre. We will guide you through registration, help you pick a realistic test date, and make sure you are ready before you pay the exam fee.
